Red Argentina de Municipios frente al Cambio Climático

RAMCC is a network consisting of 220 municipalities from Argentina. Together with the executive secretariat, we coordinate and promote strategic action plans in order to deal with climate change.

Our organization has partaken in the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), and is appointed as Argentina’s national coordinator. As such, we abide by the aforementioned coalition’s procedures.

RAMCC was set up during the first international event of “Municipalities and Climate Change” that took place in November 2010, in the city of Monte Caseros. Since then, RAMCC has become an instrument for coordinating and driving local public policies to address climate change.

Our aim is to assist with the developing and implementation of projects or programs related to the mitigation and/or adaptation of Climate Change, through the mobilization of local, national and international resources.

Our commitments include:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030.
  • Becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
  • Increasing cities’ resilience to extreme climate events that will deepen.

RAMCC Trust Fund, created and managed by RAMCC’s local governments and dedicated to climate action. It allows to bundle the efforts of these actors, who can be both trustors and beneficiaries, providing them with the support and transparency they need to make investments, that could not be channeled to a single municipality, viable. Thus, it represents an innovative financing solution for mainstreaming and accelerating large-scale aggregation of climate investments.

We also support with capacity building on climate finance, including trainings to local governments on the development of bankable projects, on available funds and requirements, and collective sustainable public purchases.

Finally, we support with the development of aggregated climate projects, formed by several small-scale local projects, that allows for the enhancement of economies of scale, the reduction of risks and the improvement of operational efficiency.

Alliance members can learn about our work from our website: https://www.ramcc.net. On our website,we are constantly communicating the climate action that municipalities members of our network are carrying out. In addition to that, we have a section where we post the different projects that we are developing, as well as a section with numerous events we organize such as trainings, forums, programs, seminars and exchanges.

Our organization has recently established a Climate Finance department. This area is permanently searching for different opportunities that can contribute to financing climate projects.

Through our membership on this Alliance, we hope to acquire knowledge about climate funding, for instance, how to gain approval for our projects. In addition to this, we would like to generate and strengthen strategic relations with diverse institutions/organizations related to climate finance. We would also appreciate further information on available funding to apply for.

Our organization is highly experienced in the development of Local Climate Action Plans. Given the fact that we are members of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), we have an extremely solid methodology to develop these plans as a result of the procedures stated by this coalition.

We are more than willing to contribute with other members of the Alliance by sharing our knowledge on the use of various tools and methods to manage and implement climate action at a local level.
