Connected Places Catapult

Connected Places Catapult is the UK’s innovation accelerator for cities, transport, and places. We provide impartial ‘innovation as a service’ for public bodies, businesses, and infrastructure providers to catalyse step-change improvements in the way people live, work, and travel. We connect businesses and public sector leaders to cutting-edge research to spark innovation and grow new markets. We run technology demonstrators and SME accelerators to scale new solutions that drive growth, spread prosperity, and eliminate carbon.

The Connected Places Catapult works within the UK and globally, particularly across regions of focus incl. Latin America, South and East Africa, Southeast Asia, Middle East, and East Asia.

We have been working across with a number of different cities across LATAM helping them to develop Net Zero profiles, which showcases the technal capability needed to reach Net Zero, and identifies areas where innovation can be facilitated to help quicken the pace. We are also working with three cities now on testing and deploying new technology to address Net Zero challenges, including the replicability of the actions through elements including finance.

We are a founding member of the Cities Commission for Climate Investment (3Ci) which works with UK cities to create a portfolio of place-based climate initiatives utilizing a blended financing approach which can enable a faster transition to Net Zero.

You can visit our website, where you can search our project data base and follow us on social media for general information and updates on our work.

We are always open to new collaborations and partnerships looking to tackle critical net zero challenges for cities. If you are interested in finding out more please contact Guilherme Johnston.

Our projects work closely and directly with cities and city-level actors, city networks, multi-lateral partners, large companies, and innovative SME’s. Through this engagement and work, we are kept up to date with the latest on city-level climate finance.

We hope that the Alliance will connect us with other actors in this space doing good work with whom we can potentially collaborate. We also hope to learn more about specific projects that are happening within this space, and identify opportunities to create synergies with the work we do.

We expect to share knowledge, support others in their projects, and to generally support progress towards Net Zero. We expect to collaborate together with partners to identify synergies where we can provide our technical expertise to catalyse progress in this space.
