UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Global Education and Training Institute (GETI) was established in 2010 to develop a new cadre of professionals in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation to build disaster resilient societies. GETI has a global mandate to provide capacity building support to mainstream disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation into sustainable development; convene and support inter-city learning to strengthen urban and sub-national resilience; and to provide capacity building and best practice sharing support to national training institutions working on resilience issues. Based in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, UNDRR GETI is also the global secretariat of the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) initiative.
- UNDRR GETI regularly organizes and facilitates trainings and capacity building programmes supporting sub-national disaster risk reduction and climate resilience planning and implementation. Many of these are jointly done with CCFLA and its members such as the Climate Bond Initiative, ICLEI, the Gap Fund, etc.
- UNDRR has a growing portfolio of accessible tools to support local governments to scale up their ambition and action from understanding their climate and disaster risks to implementing solutions. This includes, for example, the climate resilience scorecard, extreme heat risk management scorecard, and the Climate Quick Risk Estimation (QRE) Tool
- UNDRR GETI also serves are Global Secretariat of the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) and lead the development of case compilations and resource package leveraging expertise of MCR2030 partners, such as the Urban Extreme Heat Risk Management – Resource Package

- Sign up to the Making Cities Resilient mailing list at https://cc.preventionweb.net/lyris/resilient-cities. Any partners can also share their news, resources and learning opportunities through this mailing list. Currently we have more than 18,000 subscribers.

- Through MCR2030 network – both partners and cities
- We also learn through CCFLA and its working group meetings – great opportunities to keep abreast of the topics and collaborate with partners.
CCFLA has a wealth of knowledge on climate financing in cities and the various institutions that can support cities in various stages of project preparation and financing. The trainings and webinars jointly organized and delivered by UNDRR GETI and CCFLA are examples of our collaboration which provided opportunities for cities to equip themselves with tools and knowledge to convert ideas to actions.
We are part of the working group on project preparation and are active in sharing useful information and knowledge products of CCFLA with the MCR network of cities.
