Private investment is essential to deliver climate-resilient and low-carbon infrastructure in cities. While private finance already plays a role, it remains underutilized and concentrated in a limited number of markets and sectors. Investors often face high risks, unclear regulatory environments, and limited coordination with public actors – barriers that restrict capital and slow the delivery of urban climate solutions.
This workstream exists to addresses these challenges by strengthening collaboration between cities, investors, and financial institutions, and by promoting solutions that reduce risk and improve the investment case for urban climate projects.
